Four numbers, one target. Combine them with +, −, ×, ÷ and parentheses to land exactly on 24.

Make 24

Use all four numbers exactly once with +, −, ×, ÷ to make 24.

The rules

  • Use each of the four numbers exactly once.
  • Allowed operators: +, −, ×, ÷ and parentheses.
  • Order doesn't matter, but every digit has to be used.

A famous tough one

Hand: 3, 3, 8, 8. The intuitive 3 × 8 = 24 wastes the other two. The trick: 8 / (3 − 8/3) = 24. Sometimes division unlocks what multiplication can't.

Why it's good for your brain

Make 24 is mental gymnastics. You learn to see arithmetic in groups, rearrange operations, and try non-obvious orders. Three or four hands a day is enough to build the muscle.
