Area conversions are easy to get wrong because area uses the *square* of the length factor. 1 m = 100 cm, but 1 m² = 10,000 cm².
Common area units
- 1 m² = 10,000 cm²
- 1 km² = 1,000,000 m² = 100 hectares
- 1 hectare = 10,000 m² (a square 100 m × 100 m)
- 1 acre ≈ 4,047 m² ≈ 0.405 hectares
